     Girlie Frances Newberry, 97, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 7, 2010 at her nieces’ home in Clarkson, Ky.
     She was born May 19, 1913 in Cumberland County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Howard and Mary Frances (Ledbetter) Oxendine.
     She was a charter member of the Hillsboro Church of God and had retired from General Motors after 27 years of service.
     She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including special nieces and caregivers Donna Nunn and Debra Webb of Clarkson, Ky., as well as a great friend, Rev. David (Barb) Sibole of Hillsboro.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Newberry, who passed away May 30, 1981; an 8-month-old daughter, Frances Newberry; and her brother, William “J.W.” Oxendine.
     Funeral services will be held noon Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. David Sibole will officiate. Burial will follow in the Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Friday. 
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. Rte. 62, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
