Freddie Dean "Sam" Willett, 75, of Greenfield, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1936 in Greenfield, the son of the late William and Margaret (Pryor) Willett.
He graduated from McClain High School in 1954, retired from Armco Corp. in Washington C.H., was a former member of the Hillsboro Eagles Lodge and loved fast pitch softball.
On Aug. 31, 1956, he married the former Jean Chambliss, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Diane (Walter) Ruddle, Beth (Rick) Gunter and Keith (Donna) Willett, and daughter-in-law Connie Willett, all of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Amy Ruddle (Brad Brown), Brad Ruddle (September Barnhart), Jama (Aharon) McCune, Hope Gunter, Hannah Gunter, Samantha Willett (Josh Malone), Tyler Willett, Bethany Ruddle (Jason Elliott), Sam Gunter, Brooke Ruddle and Kyle Willett; and 12 great-grandchildren, Hailey Sweeney, Macey, Gavin, Connor and Molly McCune, Gracie Barnhart, Mackenzi, Austin and Evan Ruddle, Caden Gunter, Abby Brown and Kaitlynn Elliott.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Willett; a brother, Elmer "Bus" Willett; and two sisters, Juanita Willett and Marjorie Seigwald.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield. The Rev. Kenneth Burchett will officiate, and cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service Tuesday.
