Evelyn Jane Tom, 77, of Hillsboro, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. 

She was born May 13, 1933 in Bainbridge, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Cartwright Reeves. She was a 1951 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and a member of the Emblem Club. She had worked as an L.P.N. at Highland District Hospital and also worked at the Highland County District Library in Hillsboro. She enjoyed traveling, flowers and antiquing.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (John) Swayne of Washington Court House; sons Dennis R. (Ellen) Tom of Bethel, Ohio and John Mack (Dana) Tom of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandson Brandon Grant Tom; great-granddaughter Marianna Tom; brothers James Robert (Susie) Reeves of Greenfield, and Cecil Davis (Cheryl) Elliott of South Solon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Tom; and sister Judith Purdin.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
