Ethel L. Donnells, 100, of Greenfield, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Greenfield Area Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1909 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Landon and Mary Catherine (Sweeny) Keplinger.
She was a 1930 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School and a graduate of the Greenfield Business College. She was a former employee of Welfare Finance Loan Company for 30 years. After retirement, she was employed by Bank of Ohio for eight years and retired at the age of 78. She was also president of Greenfield Business and Professional Woman's Club, served as president of the V.F.W Auxiliary, chairman of the American Heart Association for Greenfield and vicinity, and served many years on the Election Board. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, where she served as deacon and treasurer of the Presbyterian Woman's Association.
She is survived by one niece, Iris M. Keplinger of Greenfield; cousins Joe (Sally) Donnells of Columbus, Warren Lee (Mickey) Donnells Timmons of Mason, Cherie Donnells Dickey of Chillicothe, and Drew (Sandy) Parker of Greenfield; good friends Katie Seilkop, Susan Cadwallader, Ruth Clyburn, and Mary Ann Larkin; and special friends Maxine Mercer and Macie Stratton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband George A. Donnells, whom she married June 22, 1932; a son, John Ed Donnells; and two brothers, Harold L. Keplinger and Virgil E. Keplinger.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield with Rev. Clint Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home of Greenfield.
