Ervin Pulse, 74, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Kobacker House Hospice Center in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 28, 1935 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Ozro and Virginia (Ervin) Pulse.

He graduated from Lynchburg High School in 1953 and from Ohio State University in 1957. He was a retired vocational agriculture teacher at McClain High School in Greenfield. Mr. Pulse was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ, a life member of the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Assn., and a member of the OSU Alumni Assn. and the Ohio Horseman's Assn. He had refereed many high school basketball games, was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, bred and trained standard bred horses, had four American farmers, 38 State Farmers, and was an Honorary American Farmer. He also sang with several barbershop quartets for over 40 years.
Mr. Pulse was married June 14, 1959 to the former Doris L. Peterson, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Amy (Paul) Bailey of Shelbyville, Ky., Bret (Rhonda) Pulse of O'Fallon, Mo., and Cheryl (Paul) Knech of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ashley (David) Rockafellow and Lindsey, Alexander, and Tristin Pulse; and three great-grandchildren, Caden, Landen, and Madelyn Rockafellow.
A celebration of Mr. Pulse's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at the Greenfield Church of Christ with Pastors Bill Requardt, Larry Maynard, and Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Harwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the church 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 11-1 Saturday.
