Elizabeth F. Riley, 96, of Greenfield, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her residence.
She was born Oct. 13, 1913 in Idaho, Ohio, the daughter of the late William H. and Osa (Burkitt) Bakenhaster.
She was retired from U.S. Shoe Corp. of Greenfield. She was a 1932 graduate of Piketon High School and a member of Greenfield First Presbyterian Church, and the Women's Association of the church.
She married Samuel E. "Ted" Riley on Aug. 23, 1935. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1968.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Larry) Vogelgesang of Mt. Dora, Fla.; a son, William E. Riley of Greenfield; a nephew, whom she and her husband raised, Harold Bakenhaster of Good Hope; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara A. Walter, and by four sisters and six brothers.
Services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home in Greenfield with Sherman Dixon officiating. Burial followed at the Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Friday.
