Edward Charles Chapman, 89, of Sardinia, Ohio, the Buford Community, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown. 
He was born March 4, 1921 in Pleasant Plain, the son of the late George and Olive Hartley Chapman. 
Mr. Chapman was a successful lifetime hog and grain farmer and was a very talented welder. He was a member and former deacon of the Buford Church of Christ. He was a 1938 graduate of Goshen High School and a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II. 
He is survived by his wife, Esther Aber Chapman, whom he married on Jan. 2, 1979 in Buford; three step-children, Jerry (Mary Ruth) Waits of Hillsboro, Deborah (Charles) Etienne of Mt. Orab, and Bobby (Cheryl) Waits of Sardinia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, David Lee Chapman of Denton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Henrietta Malott Chapman on Dec. 16, 1970; two sisters, Dorothy Chapman Marr and Anna Chapman Simpson; one step-grandson, Douglas Hill; and one step-daughter, Shirley Snyder. 
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Buford Church of Christ. Hugh Hurley will officiate. Burial with military services presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Buford Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Buford Church of Christ. 
Memorials may be made to the Buford Church of Christ, 2457 S.R. 138, Sardinia, Ohio 45171.
