Earl Ray Harrison
Earl Ray Harrison, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away at the age of 84, in Hillsboro on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Highland District Hospital, with his wife by his side.
He was born Jan. 10, 1941 in Waverly, Ill., the son of the late Ray and Ruby (McDowell) Harrison.
Earl owned and operated his glass glazing business, Harrison’s Glass, for 30 years. He attended Good News Gathering and Sinking Spring Community Church. Earl was a devoted husband to his wife, Myra, and together they shared the love of travel, exploring countless destinations and cultures. One of Earl's most cherished hobbies was creating beautiful glass jewelry. His intricate and unique glass earrings and necklaces were a testament to his patience and attention to detail. Through this art, he gifted pieces of his passion and creativity to those dear to him. Earl will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, kindness and warmth will live on through the lives of those he has touched.
Earl is survived by his wife, Myra (Roler) Harrison, whom he married Oct. 1, 2011; three children, Becky (Kevin) Hampton of Waverly, Ill., Debra (Steve) McGown of Irving, Ill. and Trustin (Lori) Harrison of Springfield, Ill.; a stepson, Tom (Trudy) Flynn of Plainville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jenny Roler of Hillsboro; brother-in-law, Jay (Tena) Roler of Sardinia; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Judy Harrison, Darrell Harrison and his twin sister, Pearl Harrison.
A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at a later date in Illinois at the convenience of the family.
