Durward F. Sears, 90, of New Vienna died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro. 
He was born March 3, 1920 in New Vienna, the son of the late Rexford Vane and Mildred E. Deck Sears.
Mr. Sears had worked for many years for the Buckeye Molding Company in New Vienna and as the caretaker for the Hillsboro Cemetery. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Hillsboro Southern Baptist Church, the Wilmington American Legion Post 49 and was a 1938 graduate of the New Vienna High School. 
He is survived by five nieces, Sue (David) Greene of Lynchburg, Peggy Lyons of New Vienna, Clara Sears of New Vienna, Elizabeth (Henry) Groves of Washington C.H., Lena Hess of New Vienna, four nephews, David Stricker of New Vienna, Danny Stricker of Sabina, Darrin (Tonya) Stricker of Sabina, Harry Stricker and special friends, Sandy Hess and Mabel Mahanes of New Vienna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margene Johnson Sears on February 1, 2007, one brother, John Robert Sears and one sister, Geraldine Stricker. Mr. Sears had requested that his body be gifted to Wright State University. 
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, August13th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Military honors will be presented by the Highland County Honor Guard following services at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
