Dorothy May "Dot" Chaney, 80, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the residence.
Dorothy was born Dec. 11, 1929 in Bourbon County, Ky., the daughter of the late Shay and Sally (White) Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Newman; one grandchild, Bobby Newman; one brother, Paul Johnson; and one sister, Betty Johnson.
Dot loved family gatherings, was an avid card player, and loved to fish.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Susan Breakfield of Washington C.H. and Gary and Connie Newman of Hillsboro; four daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Jim Iron, Barbara Jean and Rob Hughes, and Carol Sue and Bud Williams, all of Washington C.H., and Pat and Dale Parker of Hillsboro; one brother, Virgil (Sally) Johnson of Circleville; seven sisters, Martha (Harry) Robinson of Chillicothe, Eula (Fred) Hicks of Chillicothe, Minnie Hawk of Hillsboro, Dora Lyons of Greenfield, Margaret Johnson of Hillsboro, Elizabeth Hicks of Massillon, Ohio, and Joann (Mike) Duffy of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort, Ohio. 
Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Family requests memorials to the American Heart Fund or Hospice of Hope.
