Dorothy Mae Penwell, 79, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at the Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center in Seaman.
She was born March 4, 1931 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Callie Badgely Dunn.
Mrs. Penwell had worked at the Randal Corporation in Wilmington for several years. She was a member of the Word of Life Christian Center, a member and past president of the VFW Post 9094 Ladies Auxiliary, the AmVets Post 61 Ladies Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1161 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, David “Bud” (Gloria) Penwell Jr. of Dodsonville, seven daughters, Diana (James) Brown of Lynchburg, Deborah (Mike) Jones of Roseland, Florida, Davida (Charlie Pittman) Matthews of Pahrump, Nevada, Danna (Larry) Akers of New Vienna, Darlinda (Mike) Shepherd of Dodsonville, Dottymae (Doug) Miller of Hillsboro and Dawnita (Galen) Pegan of Dodsonville; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and two brothers, Chester (Kathy) Dunn of Milford and Richard (Ginnie) Dunn of Owensville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Franklin Penwell on Aug. 22, 2004 and one son, Dennis Penwell.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Pastor James Brown will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Troutwine Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. VFW Ladies Auxiliary will conduct memorial services at 7:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home Memorial contributions may be made to the Word of Life Christian Center, P. O. Box 510, Lynchburg, Ohio 45142.
