Donna Kay Ward Shafer, 57, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at her home.

She was born May 11, 1953 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Donald L. Ward and Margaret M. Shumaker Ward.

Surviving are her husband, David Allen Shafer of Leesburg; a son, Samuel (Amy) Shafer; two grandchildren, Samyra and Phoenix Shafer; three sisters, Shirley Pendell of North Carolina, Joyce (John) Gregory of Hillsboro, and Bootsie Bursk of Hillsboro; a brother, Jerry (Jannie) Ward of Texas; and her many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Aunt Donna.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Ward and Nina Sousa; and two brothers, Delbert and Denver Ward.

Services will be held at the Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leesburg.

Friends will be received at the Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 5-8 p.m. & Thursday, 1-2 p.m.
