Donald Johnson, 80, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at Adams County Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Peebles (Jaybird), Ohio on Nov. 11, 1930, the son of the late Clarence and Dolly (Spears) Johnson.
Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a 32nd degree Mason of the Leesburg Masonic Lodge Chapter #78, and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie (McCane) of Leesburg, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1952, two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Debbie Johnson of Blanchester and Kenneth and Doris Johnson of Seaman; one daughter, Lisa Winkelman of Hillsboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Jo Ann Johnson of Peebles; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Donald Hoop of Manchester and Gloria and Cecil "Bud" Kidder of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Winkelman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Rev. John Maggard officiating. Military rites will be given by the Adams County Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Jacktown Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles. There will be a Masonic Service at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday given by the Leesburg Masonic Lodge Chapter #78.
