Donald "Gene" Pummill, 80, of Greenfield, Ohio, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at the V.A. Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born July 7, 1929 in Ross County, Ohio, the son of the late William Albert and Anna (Roberts) Pummill. He was a life member of VFW Post 4736 and American Legion Post 888. He was a former factory employee and construction worker, and was later self-employed. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Berry) Pummill, whom he married on March 1, 2001; four sons, Michael Pummill of Greenfield, Ohio, Donald Pummill of South Carolina, Gary Pummill of North Carolina, and Bruce Pummill of South Salem, Ohio; two daughters, Rebecca Pummill and Melissa Pummill, both of Greenfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; one stepson, Rickie Wise, of Greenfield; and one stepdaughter, Vickie Edmister, of Wadsworth, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Pummill, Harry E. Pummill, and Jess Ira Pummill; and one sister, Anna Belle Sheese. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Greenfield Cemetery with Rev. Paul officiating. Military rites, to be conducted by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield, will follow. A visitation was held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield.[[In-content Ad]]
