Clayton Levi McKibben, 12, of Leesburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born June 24, 1998 in Wilmington, the son of Mark and Wendy Albright McKibben.
Clayton was a friend to everyone. He loved singing and music and played the drums and keyboard. He was very artistic and creative and was the family comedian. Clayton loved video gaming and was an electronics whiz. His ambition was to become a veterinarian because of his love for all animals. He had attended the Leesburg United Methodist Church and the Leesburg Friends Church. Clayton was an Honor Roll student at Leesburg Fairfield Middle School, where he was a member of the T.A.G (Talented and Gifted) Program. He was a member of the Club 56 Youth Group, participated in S.A.Y Soccer, and was 2009 Runner-Up Leesburg Luminary Prince. Clayton was a member of the Honor Choir of the Ohio Music Education Association and along with his siblings, supported Relay for Life.
He is survived by his father, Mark McKibben; mother and step-father, Wendy McKibben and Chris Cease; brother, Austin R. McKibben; sister Tricia LeeAnn McKibben; grandparents Robert and Joyce McKibben of New Vienna and Jim and Cathie Cease Tranchitella of Peoria, Ill.; great-grandmother Eleanor McKibben of New Vienna; aunts and uncles Steve (Margaret) McKibben of New Vienna, Lori (Kevin) Kelch of Midland, Debra (Richard) Miller of Paris, Ohio, Brenda Fitzgerald of Columbus, Jeffrey (MaryAnne) Grabill of Grove City, Diana (William) DePouw of Centerburg, Christopher (Shawnee) Parks of Columbus, Kimberly Albright Kroninger of Columbus, Reason (Jen) Shipley of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Andrea (Eric) White of Groveland, Ill., Joshua Cease of Pekin, lll., and Jake (Betsy) Cease of Washington, lll.; several great-aunts, including Patricia McKee of Columbus; special friends Paul and Betsy McComb and their son, Aesa, of Leesburg; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Robert Albright, Carol Weber, and Dave Cease.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at Leesburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Knauff will officiate. Burial will follow in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Leesburg United Methodist Church.
The family asks that donations be made to the Fairfield Schools Music Department, 11611 State Route 171, Leesburg, Ohio 45135.
