Clarence Edward Runyon, 86, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at Highland District Hospital.

He was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Omar, W.Va., the son of the late Andrew McConnel Runyon and Mabel Sofie (Langley) Runyon.

He retired in 1989 from Ferno Washington in Wilmington after 24 years of service in the maintenance department. He was a member of the DAV and the Good Shepherd Church of Greenfield. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Fay (Conley) Runyon, whom he married Dec. 3, 1949; one son, Edward Allen (Jeannie) Runyon of Sabina; two daughters, Nancy Kathryn (David) Smith of Sabina and Tricia Renee (Roger) Edwards of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Gloria) Runyon of Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Runyon; a daughter, Lois Elaine Mosley; and a brother,  Alfred Runyon.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, with veteran's appreciation services to begin at 1 p.m.
