Anna Marie Howland, 88, of Kettering, Ohio, formerly of Bainbridge, died Tuesday, September 22 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center in Kettering.
She was born July 21, 1921 in Adams County, the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Troutman) Thompson.
She was retired from the State of Ohio Cosmetology, where she served as an inspector. She loved animals and nature and taught classes on birds in local schools, and she was the Ohio Blue Bird Society Coordinator for Highland County. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
She is survived by her husband, Elzie M. Howland, whom she married October 19, 1940; one daughter, Alice (Pete) Williams, of Bellbrook; two sons, Terry (Glenna) Howland of Dayton and Mark (Debbie) Howland of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Thompson, of Piketon; one sister, Ruth Brown, of Piketon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Trudy Ann, and two sisters, Helen McLaughlin and Jerry Gregory.
Services were held at noon, Friday, September 25 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Troy Villars officiating. A visitation took place from 10 a.m.–noon on Friday. Burial was held at Roads Cemetery in Rainsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Alzheimer Association or to Hospice of Dayton.
