Bright Local Schools is proud to share that Kenley Juillerat, an eighth-grade student at Whiteoak Junior High, has been honored with the Hometown Hero Award by Dan Mayo of Modern Woodmen for her incredible “My Hands to Larger Service” project.
Kenley's project focused on spreading sunshine and joy to over 150 individuals across four counties, including nursing homes, shut-ins and the Highland County Senior Citizen Center. She spearheaded the creation of sunshine kits, which were filled with thoughtful items like bubbles, beach balls, word searches, hand lotion, Chapstick, pens and candies.
This heartwarming effort was a collaborative community endeavor. Kenley's Premier Showmen 4-H Club organized a donation drive to gather supplies, Modern Woodmen provided essential resources and members of Mowrystown Church of Christ helped assemble the kits. Together, they prayed over and delivered 80 sunshine kits to residents at Monarch Meadows Assisted Living and Nursing Home, among many others.
Kenley embodies the true spirit of Wildcat Nation through her leadership, compassion and dedication to making a difference in our community. We are incredibly proud of her contributions and the positive impact she continues to make.
Congratulations, Kenley.
