Lynchburg-Clay High School senior Vanessa Thiel has been presented with the 2016 Jessica Myers Memorial Scholarship.
Thiel was selected based upon her strong work ethic, involvement in scholarly and community activities, and a personal desire to "pay forward" her education.
Thiel closed out her high school basketball career for Coach Whitney Lewis' 24-2 Lady Mustangs in the 2016 regional tournament on March 2.
She will be attending Ohio University starting this summer.
Jessica Myers was a 16-year-old Lynchburg-Clay High School sophomore who passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at Mercy Mt. Orab Hospital, after an accident.
The 2015 recipient of the Jessica Myers Memorial Scholarship was Lynchburg-Clay student Trent Stadtmiller.
A "go fund me" account has been started for the Jessica Myers Memorial Scholarship.

"We are hoping that another deserving student who is going to pay forward his education and gifts will be able to be helped with this," Jessica's father, Roger Myers, said. "Her friends, family, and those whose lives she touched would be greatly honored by being able to help others in her name and her memory."
