UPDATED: Sheriff's office investigates alleged armed robbery at Beechwood Food Mart

The Highland County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at the Beechwood Food Mart. 
 

According to Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of Beechwood Lane. 
 

"We have detectives at the scene," Ward said. "A male suspect left on foot."
 

According to the HCSO, at approximately 11:28 a.m. the sheriff's office received a 911 all that a robbery had just occurred at the Paint Township store. 
 

"Caller advised the male subject entered the store and brandished a firearm, demanding money from the register," according to the HCSO. "Once the clerk gave the male subject the money he left on foot. Deputies and detectives with the Highland County Sheriff's Office responded and set a perimeter up. After a search of the area with the HCSO K9, the suspect was not located."
 

The suspect is described as a male in his 40s with "blondish shaggy hair," and is wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes, olive-colored jacket, and a dark ball cap with a logo on the front.
