Highland County is under a Level Two snow emergency as of Monday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m., as the winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service has expired.

Snowfall totals reported to the National Weather Service include 8.9 inches in Hillsboro (11 a.m.), 6.4 inches in Greenfield (9:15 a.m.) and 12 inches in Mowrystown (3:08 p.m.). As of Monday at 2 p.m., it is continuing to snow in Hillsboro, with winds causing drifting.

According to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, “Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy.

"Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution."
