Two Greenfield men arrested on meth-related charges

On March 20, 2014 at 11:03 a.m., Greenfield police officers responded to a report of suspicious activity near a garage at the rear of 451 Dickey Ave.

Finding no one home at the residence, officers checked the detached garage and detected a strong odor of chemicals associated with methamphetamine manufacturing emanating from it.

Officers forced entry to the garage and located two individuals attempting to hide inside. Officers also located two actively cooking one pot meth labs.

John Willett, 38, and Brian Penwell, 39, both of Greenfield were taken into custody.

The meth labs were removed from the garage and with the assistance of Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire Dept. they were neutralized at the scene.

Willett and Penwell were taken to the Greenfield jail and will be charged with illegal assembly of chemicals for making methamphetamine (F3).

They will appear for arraignment in Highland County Court, Greenfield, on Monday.

Additional charges are possible after evidence analysis and a prosecutors review.
