Trial date continued for former corrections officer

The trial of a former corrections officer at the Highland County Justice Center has been continued. 
Christopher L. Hilderbrandt, 30, of Highland County, was indicted in October on one count of sexual battery, a felony of the third degree. 
The indictment was the result of allegations issued to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office that Hilderbrandt, who was a corrections officer at the time, was engaging in inappropriate relationships with inmates, according to the HCSO. An internal investigation was opened on June 25  which involved interviews of current and former inmates. On July 8 Hilderbrandt resigned his position with the Sheriff’s Office.  
Hilderbrandt was scheduled to stand trial in Highland County Common Pleas Court on Jan. 13. According to documents filed in the Highland County Clerk of Courts Office, the trial has been continued to Feb. 24, "if the case is not dismissed."
A status hearing on the case was held on Jan. 7, and additional discovery was filed on Jan. 10, when the trial date was continued. 
Hilderbrandt is being represented by attorney George M. Wolfe and the state is being represented by the Highland County Prosecutor's Office.
