WILMINGTON – Three physicians graduated at the CMH Regional Health System Family Medicine Residency Program’s 13th annual graduation ceremonies Saturday, June 18, at the Clinton Memorial Hospital Conference Center.
This year’s graduates are Dr. Sheila Llanes Diopita, Dr. Tahirah Tyrell and Dr. Chevone Vent.
Faculty member Dr. Rachel Sneed presented Dr. Vent the Dr. H.R. Bath Family Care Award. It is presented annually to a graduating resident in honor of Dr. Bath, who was a long-time local physician and original member of the CMH Medical Staff.
Faculty member Dr. Stuart Leeds presented Dr. Tyrell the annual Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Resident Teacher Award.
The residents recognized Dr. Allen Liu, a CMH residency graduate, with the Golden Spoon Award for being the outstanding volunteer faculty member.
Program director Dr. Ed Onusko was master of ceremonies for the event. The graduates, friends and family members, and faculty and staff from the residency program also heard remarks from Dr. Michael Choo, president and chief executive officer of CMH Regional Health System, and Steve Pidgeon, a member of the CMH Board of Trustees. The morning concluded with special entertainment provided by Dr. Onusko and Dr. Leeds on guitar and an original song from the staff of the program.
Dr. Tyrell currently practices as a hospitalist at Clinton Memorial Hospital and will go to London in August to pursue her master’s degree. Dr. Diopita will be joining an urgent care center in Mason. Dr. Vent will join a practice in Upper Sandusky.
