Former Ohio Governor and Congressman Ted Strickland will be making a campaign stop as part of his Southern Ohio Tour at the Highland County Democratic Campaign Headquarters, at 111 West Main St. in Hillsboro at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30.
Strickland is the Democratic nominee for United States Senate and is opposed by Republican incumbent Rob Portman.

As a congressman, Strickland turned down subsidized healthcare because it wasn’t available to his constituents. He played an instrumental role in the passage of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, expanding access to healthcare for millions of children nationwide. He fought tirelessly for veterans, the Appalachian region and working families.
Strickland’s priorities as governor were guided by the lessons he learned throughout his life. His accomplishments include creating one of the nation’s leading advanced energy laws which helped Ohioans save more than $1 billion on energy bills while re-invigorating Ohio’s economy through the creation of new clean energy jobs.
