Snow prompts several school delays Friday

Once again, many area schools have delayed the start of classes. The Friday morning snow showers have caused delays for Hillsboro City Schools, Fairfield Local, Bright Local, Lynchburg-Clay, St. Mary Catholic School, Eastern Brown, Adams County/Ohio Valley, Hillsboro Christian Academy and Southern State Community College.
Overnight snow showers have put down up to two inches of snow in much of southern Ohio; however, Ohio Department of Transportation crews are working to clear the state highway system and keep roadways safe and passable.
Currently, routes in the district's western and northern counties are partly to mostly snow covered, with primary roadways showing signs of improvement. Primary and secondary routes toward the south and east are still snow covered as the storm front continues to push through the area.
Throughout the entire area, all roads will be slick and slushy, and ice may also be present.
Motorists are reminded to drive with extra care, to reduce their speed and allow additional travel time. They are also reminded to pay heed to other vehicles on the roads by maintaining a safe following distance, particularly when traveling behind snowplow trucks.
District 9 includes Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties.[[In-content Ad]]
