Several juveniles facing charges after reports of vandalism in Clay Township

The Highland County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several incidents of criminal damaging and vandalism in the Clay Township area of Highland County. Sgt. Donnie Barrera took a report of vandalism at the Buford School on August 15.
The complainant reported that the school had been vandalized by unknown subjects who painted graffiti on the exterior brick walls of the school. The HCSO also has been investigating several reports of mailboxes being damaged in the rural areas of Clay Township.
Sergeant Barrera received information concerning the damage to the school and interviewed several juvenile female suspects. Information was obtained from three suspects that they had been involved in painting the school building.
During those interviews, information came to light that caused three juvenile males to be interviewed concerning the recent damage to mailboxes and all three admitted their involvement in the mailbox damage cases.
The cases files will be forwarded to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins where charges will be prepared and filed in Highland County Juvenile Court. All six juveniles involved in these cases were released to the custody of their parents pending their appearance in Juvenile Court.[[In-content Ad]]
