Secretary of State LaRose issues reminders for August special election

Important dates for the Aug. 8 election include:
• June 23: Military and Overseas Absentee Ballot voting begins;
• July 10: Deadline for voter registration for Aug. 8 special election;
• July 11: Early in-person absentee voting begins;
• Aug. 1: Applications for absentee ballots to be mailed for August 8 special election must be received by your local county board of elections, which will remain open until 8:30 p.m.; and
• Aug. 8: Special election. Polls will be open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Frank LaRose became Ohio’s 51st Secretary of State on Jan. 14, 2019, bringing to the office years of hard-earned leadership skills and public service developed as a U.S. Army Reservist, Ohio senator and U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret. Prior to his election as secretary of state, LaRose served as a member of the state Senate, where he led efforts to increase government transparency and efficiency, particularly in the areas of elections administration and regulatory reform. Among numerous recognitions, LaRose earned the Legislator of the Year award from the Ohio Association of Election Officials for his efforts to improve Ohio’s election process.
