Rosenberger critical of Kasich's vetoes

COLUMBUS – Ohio Governor John Kasich returned Am. Sub. SB 329 and Sub. HB 554 to their respective chambers after vetoing both bills this week.
Additionally, Sub. SB 235 was signed into law and filed with the Ohio Secretary of State after Kasich used his line-item veto authority to disapprove certain provisions in the bill.
Kasich's vetoes included:
• Am. Sub. SB 329 (Jordan, Faber) requires standing committees of the General Assembly to establish a schedule for the periodic review and sunset of state departments that are currently in the Governor's cabinet.
• Sub. HB 554 (Amstutz) revises the requirements for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and peak demand reduction and alters funding allocations under the Home Energy Assistance Program.
Speaker of the Ohio House Cliff Rosenberger, R-Clarksville, released a statement following Kasich’s vetoes:
"In response to today's vetoes, I am disappointed that Governor Kasich has expressed disagreement with the majority of his Republican colleagues in the Legislature," Rosenberger said.
"Through today's actions, it is clear that serious differences of opinion exist between the House and the administration on issues such as energy policy and taxation. Make no mistake, many of these policies will continue to be priorities among our caucus as we head into the next General Assembly, and I look forward to working with the administration on those issues."
