Republican central committee to meet June 15 to appoint prosecutor

The Highland County Republican Central Committee has announced that it is now accepting resumés for the position of Highland County Prosecuting Attorney.
According to committee chairperson Richard Counter, resumés and cover letters should be mailed to P.O. Box 616, Hillsboro, Ohio, 45133. The resumés must be received by June 8. 
Highland County Prosecutor Jim Grandey announced his retirement May 17, and it will be effective May 31. He told The Highland County Press he is leaving for personal reasons and to spend more time with his family. 
Counter said that the committee will meet June 15 at 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Highland County Administration Building. During that time the committee will review resumés and interview candidates. Counter said the committee hopes to deliberate and decide on the appointment that evening. 
According to Section 309.02 of the Ohio Revised Code, regarding requirements to be a prosecutor include, "no who is not an attorney at law licensed to practice law in this state. No prosecuting attorney shall be a member of the general assembly of this state or mayor of a municipal corporation."
Whoever is appointed to the office will finish out Grandey's term, which is up at the end of 2012.
