Poll: Ohio governor's race a virtual dead heat
Former U.S. Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Republican John Kasich leads Ohio Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland by two percentage points in the latest Ohio Newspaper Poll.
With a margin of error of 3.3 percent, Kasich's 49-47 edge makes the race a statistical dead heat.
The newspaper poll was conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati, and included a sampling of 839 likely voters from Oct. 14-18.
Kasich's strongest support came from southwest, central and northwest Ohio.
Strickland's strongest support came from northeast and southeast Ohio.
