Multiple county units battle field fire

Approximately 9-10 acres were damaged during a field fire off Hopkins Lane Wednesday afternoon. 

 

According to Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, the department received a call at approximately 2:28 p.m. Wednesday with a report that 3-4 acres were on fire. 

 

Firefighters battled the fire until they ran out of water, according to HFR. They continued attacking the flames using rakes and other brush equipment until mutual aid arrived with more water. 

 

Multiple county units responded to the scene, including Paint Creek Joint Fire and Ambulance District, and departments from Leesburg, Lynchburg, Marshall and Mowrystown. 

 

Firefighters were on the scene until approximately 4 p.m. when the flames were extinguished.
