Greenfield Village Council held its first meeting of 2025 on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

All five council members – Phil Clyburn, Brenda Losey, Mary Ellen McMurry, Carlos Ooten and Cory Taylor – were in attendance – eventually, according to at least two sources. Sources also informed The Highland County Press that prior votes were made before all members of council were in attendance. The HCP was not at the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, McMurry was selected as the new council chairperson by a 3-2 vote, and Taylor was unanimously voted as vice-chairman.

No other action was taken. The HCP has asked council members for any corrections to this report. If any members reply, the story will be updated.

I don't really understand how McMurray could hold this position. If her husband is in litigation with the village of Greenfield. I don't understand why she's even still on as a council member during this issue between her husband and the village, this seems as of it would create a conflict of interest. This is just my opinion.
