Martial arts tournament held in Lynchburg

The 31st annual Mannaka Ni Sangatsu Martial Arts Tournament was hosted recently in Lynchburg.

Led by black belts Brady Fields, Glenn Fields and Talon Knisley, the Cross-County Bushido Club won a total of 35 trophies.

Black belt winners were: Brady Fields, first place boys weapons and kata and grand champion junior black belt weapons and kata; Talon Knisley, first place sparring and second place jujitsu; and Glenn Fields, third place kata.

Brown belt winners were: Nayomie Ludwick, first place weapons, second place kata.

Green belt winners were: Wyatt Kidwell, first place weapons, second place kata, second place sparring, third place jujitsu; Zachariah Fithen, first place sparring, second place weapons; Garrett Willey, first place weapons, second place kata; Maelynn Quigley, first place weapons, first place kata, second place sparring; Michelle Purdin, first place weapons, first place kata, second place sparring, third place best back fist.

White Belt winners were: Kristin Potts, second place weapons, second place kata, second place jujitsu, second best back fist; Brody Purdin, first place weapons, second place kata, second best back fist; Mallory Smith, second place weapons, third place sparring, third place kata.

The Bushido Club is under the tutelage of Master Rick Ludwick, Master Bob Minton, Sensei Earl Paul Sr., Sensei Earl Paul Jr., Sensei Dale Quigley, Sensei Talon Knisley, Sensei Glenn Fields, Sensei Brady Fields and Sensei Rick Purdin.

The club has class on Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Lynchburg Elementary School.
