Lynchburg-Clay FFA recently traveled to the National FFA Convention, held in Indianapolis, Ind., with Mowrystown FFA.
Students enjoyed an educational stop at the National Air Force Museum, enjoyed lunch at Young’s Dairy and celebrated FFA while attending the Lainey Wilson concert on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, members attended the opening session of the National FFA Convention, where they heard from guest speaker Juan Bendana and celebrated the Mowrystown FFA as they received recognition as being a National Chapter. We also heard the retiring address of National FFA Central Region Vice-President, Karstyn Cantrell.
The following day, students went out to Beasley’s Orchard to learn about their family owned business while enjoying apple cannons, hay rides, and of course, sweet treats and warm apple cider.
Later Friday afternoon, the Lynchburg-Clay FFA celebrated Matthew Gossett being named No. 1 in the area of Fiber and Oil Crop Production at the fifth general session and wrapped up the day with a steak dinner.
Lastly, on Saturday morning, we celebrated the accomplishments of Natasha Davidson, Alana Miller and Austin Wilkin, who were a part of the 457 American FFA Degrees awarded to Ohio students. American FFA Degrees are given the gold charm, which stands for the Gold Standard.
As the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to his or her chapter and state FFA association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA career. American FFA Degree recipients show promise for the future and have gone above and beyond to achieve excellence.
We would like to congratulate our four amazing students on their accomplishments at the National FFA Convention and say thank you to the following people and organizations; The Lynchburg-Clay School Board, the Lynchburg-Clay FFA Alumni, Stroud Family Farms, Matt Stroud and Mike Christophel.
