Local K-9 officers receive badges donated by prosecutor’s office

Four local K-9 officers were presented with their own police badges on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a donation from the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office as well as their own efforts.
Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins said that the money for the badges came from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
“The K-9s really brought in the money for their own badges,” Collins said.

Badges were given to K-9 officers Chica of the Greenfield Police Department (handler Shawn Shanks), Django of the Highland County Sheriff’s Office (handler Craig Seaman), Harley of the Hillsboro Police Department (handler Adam Day) and Rony of the Greenfield Police Department (handler Jeremiah Oyer).
Collins designed each K-9’s badge to match the badge of their commanding officer and department, with their name printed on the back.
“The only thing that’s the same is each badge has a dog in the middle,” Collins said.
