A Leesburg man is facing four charges of rape following an indictment by a Highland County grand jury this week.
Jonah Hunt, 21, was indicted on the four first-degree felony counts Tuesday, Jan. 2. The indictment was initially made secret.
The indictment alleges that Hunt “did engage in sexual conduct” with a child victim under the age of 13. Each count is for a separate alleged time period, including two multiple-month periods in 2021 and one multiple-month period in 2022. For the 2022 time period, the indictment alleges that the “sexual conduct” occurred in two different counties.
Hunt was arrested Jan. 3, according to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. A bond review hearing is scheduled for Jan. 9. Pretrials are scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 21, with a jury trial currently slated for March 25.
An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt. For more from the Jan. 2 grand jury session, see the story at: https://highlandcountypress.com/news/highland-county-grand-jury-indicts….
