Ohio Governor John Kasich has announced an appointment to the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees.
Larry Anderson, of Adams County, has been appointed to fill one of two vacancies on the board.
Anderson's term will begin today and will end May 11, 2014.
Fellow Adams County board member Rory Ryan also welcomed Mr. Anderson to the SSCC Board of Trustees.
"I am confident in Gov. Kasich's selection and welcome Mr. Anderson to the board," Ryan said.
"Since the retirement of former Adams County trustee Ernie McFarland, it's been kind of lonely being the only representative from Adams County. With Mr. Anderson's professional background, he will bring a wealth of knowledge and perspective to the board. I am sure all of the college trustees look forward to seeing Mr. Anderson at our Aug. 17 board meeting."
The board previously had two vacancies.
Board member Ben Houser passed away in June. There had been a vacancy since December when the Ohio Senate rejected the appointment of Judith Craig.
Craig had been appointed by then-Governor Ted Strickland to the board in September, along with fellow Fayette County resident Donald Moore.
In June 2010, Strickland had appointed Michelle Phillips Cimis of Highland County and Leilani Popp of Clinton County. Craig, Cimis, Moore and Popp were each sworn in to serve as board members by Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss during a Sept. 8 board meeting.
The SSCC Board will meet Aug. 17 for a special session to discuss the purchase of property.

Board President Kay Ayres welcomed Anderson to the board.
"I am glad that an appointment has been made. We were running two short, and we need all the good minds that we can have to do the right thing for the college. And I hope (Kasich) makes another appointment very soon," Ayres told The Highland County Press.
