Jim Linne honored at Highland Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Highland SWCD was held on Oct. 13 at the Hi-TEC Center in Hillsboro. During the meeting, several awards were presented and the election of supervisors took place.

Jim Linne of White Clover Farm took home top honors at this years’ Annual Meeting by being named the 2016 Cooperator of the year by the Highland SWCD supervisors and staff.

Linne was selected due to his devotion to agricultural and the determination to improve soil and water quality throughout his operation. He has installed and utilized various conservation practices over the years.

Linne is a well-respected innovative producer in the agricultural industry and provides an outstanding example of how to incorporate conservation practices that will protect the natural resources of Highland County.

The election of Supervisors for the Board of the Highland Soil & Water Conservation District was also held during the Annual Meeting. There were three candidates running this year for two available positions serving a three-year term beginning January 2017. The candidates on the ballot were Jim Carr, Kyle Mustard and Alex Walker. When the election results were tallied both Jim Carr and Kyle Mustard were re-elected to serve another term. Other members of the Highland SWCD Board of Supervisors include Jeff Boike, Larry Shannon and Dan Chambers.
