Jeter arraigned on 17 counts of child pornography

A Hillsboro physical therapist charged with 17 counts related to child pornography was arraigned Wednesday in Highland County Common Pleas Court.
Dana Jeter, 52, was indicted earlier this month on the 17 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, all felonies of the second degree.
Jeter was arrested in January following an investigation by the Highland County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, he was represented by attorney Scott Evans of Wilmington, and he posted $25,000 bond. He is to remain on house arrest under the supervision of the Highland County Probation Department. He was ordered to undergo random drug testing, and to have no contact with the alleged victims.
A pretrial was scheduled for March 16, with a final pretrial scheduled for May 4, and a jury trial scheduled for May 9.
On Tuesday, Jan. 18, detectives and deputies with the HCSO, along with Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI&I) executed a search warrant at a Hillsboro residence in response to an ongoing investigation into alleged child pornography possession, according to the sheriff's office. Upon execution of the warrant, items of evidence were seized and taken to the crime lab at BCI&I for further analysis.
"At this point in the investigation, we don't have any reason to believe any local victims were involved in this," Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward told The Highland County Press on Wednesday. "We believe he received it, and other jurisdictions are working on where the material came from. We believe the material was then disseminated by him to other computers that would possibly be in other jurisdictions, outside our area or outside the state of Ohio. Once his computer is forensically dissected, we can then tell more of possibly where the material came from and where it was disseminated to."
The case was initiated by the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force out of Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, who developed information that Jeter may be in possession of child pornography. The ICAC investigator then contacted detectives with the HCSO and forwarded the case to the sheriff’s office, as it was determined Jeter lives within Highland County.
