Historical Society celebrates 50th year of Highland House Museum

This is the 47th article in a series from the Highland County Historical Society featuring members of the Highland County Historical Society Hall of Fame and recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Highland House Museum.
Robert A. “Bob” Hodson
Robert A. Hodson is honored for his valuable civic service to Highland County and for his 31 years as president of Hillsboro Bank and Savings.
Bob is a graduate of Buford High School and The Ohio State University. He attended the Ohio University School of Banking and graduated from the Central States Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
After teaching vocational agriculture in Highland County and serving as a 4-H agent in Clinton County, he entered the field of banking, first as manager at the New Vienna Branch of Clinton County National Bank.
From 1961 until his retirement in 1991, he served as president and CEO of the Hillsboro Bank and Savings which became 1st Security, then Fifth Third Bank of Southern Ohio.
Bob served as member and president of the Board of Trustees of Southern State Community College, president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Retail Merchants Association and chair of the Highland County Historical Society Board of Directors (which he was instrumental in founding).
He also served as president of the Hillsboro Athletic Boosters and as member of the Ohio Extension Advisory Committee.
He co-founded Highland Cable TV in Hillsboro.
He is an active member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and past chairman of the Wilmington Area Walk to Emmaus Community.
He was named Hillsboro Citizen of the Year in 1987.
Bob and his wife, Dorothy, have been remarkable civic leaders in Highland County.
