Kiersten Williamson, a Hillsboro Christian Academy sixth grader, appeared on the Feb. 14 episode of “Chopped Junior” on Food Network.
Williamson, 12, competed in a breakfast-themed competition judged by Geoffrey Zakarian, Bethenny Frankel and Cliff Crooks. The episode, “Rise and Cook!” was the second episode of the show’s fifth season.
In the first round, the young chefs were asked to create an appetizer featuring frozen milk and cereal pops, spinach, country ham and French toast sticks.
Williamson served the judges a ham and spinach fritter, which also incorporated potatoes and the French toast sticks, and a cereal pop sauce that included strawberries and lemon. The judges complimented Williamson on the flavors of her dish, but she was “chopped” after the judges said her fritters were not as crispy as they would like.
