Hillsboro Police Report

On Thursday, Nov. 28 at 12:28 a.m., officers of the Hillsboro Police Department responded to the report of a hit-skip crash at the intersection of West Main Street and Oak Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that an unknown vehicle was westbound on West Main St. and skidded 88 feet before striking a traffic control box that was attached to a traffic light pole. The box was knocked from the pole to the ground, causing the traffic lights to go out at both the intersections of Oak St. and West Main St. and Willettsville Pike and West Main St. The vehicle then traveled another 89 feet before re-entering the roadway on Willettsville Pike and fled the scene. A witness reported seeing a small black car with a loud exhaust at what appeared to be a high rate of speed in the 200 block of West Main St. The witness said her heard brakes lock up shortly thereafter and then a crash. The suspect vehicle will have driver's side damage with a mirror missing and possible damage to the front of the vehicle. The driver was described as a white male. Hillsboro street crews were called to place temporary stop signs until repairs could be arranged. Hillsboro Safety-Service Director Ralph Holt was on scene to evaluate the situation. On Nov. 18, Clarice Miller of Hillsboro reported her purse was taken while she was a customer at Wendy's.
On Nov. 20, Shawn Inman of Hillsboro reported someone had taken a miter saw from his porch.
On. Nov. 21, Amanda Elliott of Hillsboro reported that several people came to her residence and damaged her 2000 Ford, then came back and did more damage. The rear passenger quarter panel and taillight and back windshield were broken. A warrant has been issued for the suspect.
