Hillsboro man indicted on second-degree felony child endangering

A Hillsboro man has been indicted on a second-degree felony charge of endangering children involving an incident with a 3-year-old child, that left the child with "ongoing medical problems."
 

Gregory Kiley Jr., 34, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court on one count of endangering children, a felony of the first degree. 
 

According to the indictment, Kiley allegedly "on on about April 24, 2010, did reckless abuse a child ... causing serious physical harm."
 

He was arraigned in Highland County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday. Bond was set at $10,000, plus an OR bond. 
 

A trial date was scheduled for May 9, a first pretrial was scheduled for March 16 and a second pretrial was scheduled for April 20. 


The indictment was the result of an investigation by Detectives with the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, and detectives with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office into an alleged incident from April 2010, where Kiley was accused of injuring a 3 year old child acquaintance at a local playground. The child was hospitalized as result of his/ her injuries and continues to suffer ongoing medical problems as a result of the incident.

 

Kiley was taken into custody at the Highland County Court House on Feb. 8, 2011, where he had appeared for a child custody hearing concerning one of his own children. Kiley was arraigned via video arraignment before Judge Rocky A. Coss in Highland County Common Pleas Court. As part of pre-trial supervision, no contact with any child under 18 unless supervised by a responsible adult, and was placed under house arrest pending further hearings.

Also indicted on Tuesday, in a separate incident, Tuesday was John Kress, of Circleville, on a charge of possession of drugs. Carol Curren was appointed as his attorney, and bond was set at OR only.
