Hillsboro City Schools set to approve Davis as superintendent

The Hillsboro City Schools board of education has selected Tim Davis as their next superintendent, according to a statement posted on their website.
Board president Bill Myers released the following statement regarding Davis’ hiring:
"The board is pleased to announce the person chosen to be our next Superintendent. We were extremely fortunate to have a very difficult decision to make. This made the process very challenging but rewarding.
"We have asked Tim Davis if he would accept the position. He has agreed to take on this challenge. We firmly believe that he brings a passion not only for our students and our staff, but that he also possesses a huge amount of pride in being from Hillsboro and what it means to be a Hillsboro Indian.
“We feel that he has a solid plan and an understanding of where we need to head educationally in our district. We are excited about the future of this district and the excellence we can all achieve together.
“The Board of Education will be holding a special meeting on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. to approve the hiring of Mr. Davis. Please make him feel welcome in his new role beginning next school year.”
Davis is currently serving as a principal for the fourth and fifth grades at Hillsboro Elementary School.
Davis will replace current superintendent James Smith, who was first named interim superintendent in October 2013. Smith, who retired from Bethel-Tate Local Schools in 2010, will be resigning, according to superintendent’s secretary Jenny Shelton.
