Imagine yourself in the middle of a domestic violence situation, sexual abuse situation, or an unexpected family tragedy being rushed away from your home by people trying to protect you, wearing only the clothes on your back.
Unfortunately, these scenarios play themselves out all too often in Highland County. Hence, Highland County Victim Witness has created “Sweats for Survivors.”
The goal is to have new T-shirts, sweat shirts, sweat pants, shorts and athletic pants (yoga pants or leggings) available in sizes small to 4XL, for both men and women. This is to provide clean, fresh garments for those being uprooted from their life and at the same time, let these victims know that Highland County cares.
If you can help with this worthwhile project, it would be greatly appreciated. Highland County Victim Witness will accept new T-shirts, sweat shirts, and sweat pants and/or funds to help purchase such items. These donations can be dropped off at the Victim Witness office at 112 Gov. Foraker Place, Hillsboro, (at the Highland County Courthouse) Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
For more information, contact Jessica Shoemaker or Somer Williams in the Victim Witness office at (937) 393-5872.
