Less than two months after accepting at least seven applications for the Greenfield city manager position, Greenfield Village Council has voted, 4-0, with one abstention, to retain Gary Silcott as city manager for 2025.
As previously reported, council named Silcott, a vice president of DLZ Ohio, as interim city manager in October 2024 following the resignation of former city manager Todd Wilkin.
In January 2017, Silcott was also selected, by then-Hillsboro mayor Drew Hastings, to succeed Wilkin as Hillsboro safety and service director. He served in that role until May 31, 2017.
According to his DLZ biography, Silcott “has more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the fields of engineering and design, having worked within both the private and public sectors of engineering consulting for American Electric Power Company and the Ohio Department of Transportation, respectively.
During a very brief meeting on Jan. 30, 2025, Greenfield Village Council member Cory Taylor made a motion to retain Silcott. After a second by council member Brenda Losey, council members Phil Clyburn and Carlos Ooten voted in favor of the motion. Council president Mary Ellen McMurry abstained.
In November 2024, voters in the village of Greenfield approved a proposal to change the village’s form of government, returning to an elected mayor instead of an appointed city government.
