GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Mother’s Club organization, which continues to do so many wonderful things for the youth of the McClain school system and community, recently held a 5K walk and run on April 30 at Felson Park.

It was an added event this year to aid with the group’s fundraising projects, which allow them to award two $500 scholarships annually.

“We did a 5K run/walk about four or five years ago, but weren’t able to get one off the ground the last couple of years,” Mother’s Club member Joey Gill explained. “So this year, our fundraising committee decided to do another one to help raise a little extra money besides our other two fundraisers – the Super Bowl sub sales and a holiday auction in November that we do annually.”

All of the money raised will be used to provide the two local scholarships. One will be given to a graduating senior, and the other for a continuing education student who has graduated from McClain High School and is at least a sophomore in college.

“We really appreciate all of the community support that we receive, and as our Mother’s Club slogan goes, ‘It does take a village to raise a child,’” Gill said.

All participants received a T-shirt; and the top three finishers, both men and women, received medals.
