Greenfield Lions sponsor kindergarten eye screening
Ohio State University fourth-year optometry students screened the kindergartners of the Greenfield school district on Oct. 27-28.
Tests performed by the OSU students included stereo vision, near vision acuity, cover test, distance visual acuity, retinoscopy and ophthalmoscopy.
A total of 156 students were screened with 26% being referred to see an optometrist. The vision problems of these students have might not have been found without the detailed screening performed by the OSU students.
All costs for the screening are covered by the Greenfield Lions Club through sales of candy and brooms, the Wheels of Progress burger booth and Sight Seal donations.
