Franklin County deputy charged in 58-count indictment in Ross County
On the morning of July 31, the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Ross County arrested a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy without incident.
Charles Davis, of Circleville, has been indicted in Ross County on 58 counts, including 32 counts of rape and 26 counts of gross sexual imposition.
Thee Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the investigation in September 2023. At that time, the deputy was immediately placed on administrative leave.
“This is an extremely serious matter, and I have full faith in the investigation,” Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said. “We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and accountability. I want to reassure our citizens that we are dedicated to transparency, professionalism, and as always, the safety of our community.”
No further comments will be made by the Sheriff’s Office while the case proceeds through the judicial system. An internal investigation is also underway.
An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
